Natalie, 11, was a victim of the Westside Middle School shooting in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Natalie had a faint heart beat when she was taken to the ER, but her brain stem had been destroyed from two shots to the head. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
A 13-year-old boy, who reportedly vowed to kill all the girls who had broken up with him, and his 11-year-old cousin opened fire on students outside a middle school, killing four girls, a teacher, and wounding 11 other people.
A teacher, Shannon Wright, 32, was shot as she threw herself in front of a student to save her. Within seconds, several students lay in their own blood on the school grounds, some screaming, some unmoving. The massacre started when two male students took aim and began firing on students and teachers after pulling the fire alarm to lure them of of the school building.
A boy pleaded guilty on his 14th birthday and a 12-year-old friend was convicted on charges they gunned down four schoolmates and a teacher in an ambush outside their school. The judge sentenced them to the custody of juvenile authorities, possibly until they turn 21.
Mitchell Johnson, 13 at the time of the shootings and who was tried as a juvenile, on August 12, 2005 left a Tennessee on facility on his 21st birthday — his record wiped clean. Andrew Golden, 11 years old at the time of the attack, was released in May, 2007 — his record wiped clean. The releases angered many in Jonesboro and opened fresh wounds in a small community still coping with the deadly attacks and events that cause pain to so may people.
