BIRTH: July 2, 1991
DEATH: April 15, 2006
April, 14, was shot and killed while attending a party with a friend. She wasn’t the intended victim but happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The murderer brandished a weapon that he was carrying, and put it in one of the party goer’s face and pulled the trigger and it jammed.
They, the party goer’s, ran inside the apartment where the party was ongoing. In that apartment were April, 14, and her friend. The prosecutor said April was unable to escape the gunfire once he returned and started shooting.
Approximately 10 rounds or 10 shots were fired into the apartment complex with all the individuals inside the apartment hitting the ground. Unfortunately April, being 14, did not hit the ground. She was struck in the head and also in the body that led to her being killed.
The shooter had this to say to police about shooting into the group of people, “I meant to hit every f—ing thing in there.” He did hit someone, April, and innocent 14 year-old girl that had nothing to do with his argument.
He was convicted of second degree murder, three counts of aggravated battery, and one count of aggravated assault. He was sentenced to life in prison, but will be eligible for parole in 40 years.
